The Army Day Ceremony of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held on 24 April 23 in Shangri-La Eros Hotel, New Delhi. At this event, Lt. Gen Dinesh Singh Rana, Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency of India was invited as a Chief Guest. Also, a large number of ambassadors and military Attache’s residing in Delhi participated in this ceremony. During the opening of this ceremony, H.E. Dr Iraj Elahi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran,  while referring to the growing defence cooperation between Iran and India, pointed out the role of these two countries in the field of countering terrorism.During his speech, H.E Lt. Gen. Dinesh Singh Rana also called for the continuation of these relations. The two speakers, while referring to the upcoming visit of Iran's Defence Minister to India to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Defence Ministers' Summit, which is scheduled to be held at the end of this week in New Delhi, expressed hope that this trip and the meeting of the Defence Ministers of the two countries would lay the groundwork for more defense cooperation.
