Meeting Between the Iranian Foreign Minister and the President of India
Seyed Abbas Araghchi the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran who is in New Delhi for consultations with senior Indian officials and participation in the Iran-India Joint Commission met this evening with Mrs. Droupadi Murmu the President of India
In the meeting, Iran's Foreign Minister referred to the historic and civilizational ties between the two great nations of Iran and India, emphasizing Iran's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest. He also presented a report on the discussions and outcomes of the 20th meeting of the Iran-India Joint Commission. Referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled stance in condemning all forms of terrorism, Araghchi noted that Iran immediately condemned the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam. He reiterated Iran’s firm desire for peace and stability in the South Asian region, calling for restraint from actions that could escalate tensions. He also expressed Iran’s readiness to offer its good offices to help reduce tensions and restore calm in this strategically important area. President Murmu expressed appreciation for Iran’s principled stance and its solidarity, describing the relationship between the two countries as built on strong historical and cultural foundations. She noted that since the signing of the Treaty of Friendship 75 years ago, relations have consistently grown and progressed in line with the mutual interests of both nations. President Murmu also expressed sorrow over the recent explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port, conveying condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Iran, and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
