Iran’s National Day Ceremony Held in New Delhi
The 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran was commemorated on Monday evening 9 February 2026 in New Delhi.
The ceremony was attended by a number of local officials, ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, business leaders, media representatives, and members of the Iranian community residing in India. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India, highlighted the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past 47 years and emphasized that the Iranian nation, relying on Almighty God and under the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei, has overcome various crises and, despite hostile conspiracies, continues to move forward on the path of progress and development. In the continuation of the ceremony, Ambassador Sibi George is Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the guest of honor, referred to the history of bilateral cooperation between Iran and India and stressed the expansion of cooperation in various fields, particularly the Chabahar Port project. Referring to his two years of diplomatic service in Iran, he also noted that Iran was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with India. On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fields of technology, medicine, and pharmaceuticals was also held.
