The 19th Iran-India Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) were held in New Delhi on 03 January 2025. (14 Dey in the Iranian calendar) Shri. Vikram Misri, Foreign Secretary and H.E. Dr. Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran co-chaired the meeting.
H.E. Dr. Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, met with Shri. Vikram Misri, India's Deputy Foreign Minister, on Friday to discuss and exchange views on issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
The two sides reviewed the entirety of their bilateral relations, including cooperation on the development of Chabahar Port, agricultural collaborations, trade and economic issues, as well as cultural and people-to-people relations.
Regional and global developments, including the situation in Afghanistan, West Asia, and the Caucasus, were also among the topics discussed by both parties.
During the meeting, Dr. Takht-Ravanchi highlighted India's importance in Iran's foreign relations and emphasized Iran's readiness to expand cooperation with India in all areas.
India's Deputy Foreign Minister, in turn, underscored the significance of Chabahar Port in supporting Afghanistan's reconstruction and economic development.
Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in international multilateral organizations, including the United Nations, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Dr. Majid Takht-Ravanchi also met with Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India's Minister of External Affairs, during his visit to India. They discussed key bilateral issues and ongoing developments in the region, emphasizing the need to strengthen high-level cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, during his two-day visit to India, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister met with members of the Indian media and editors of prominent outlets, responding to journalists' questions.
Dr. Takht-Ravanchi also delivered speeches at two Indian think tanks, which play a significant role in shaping India's overarching policies.
